Out of Costume, Adam Jerald has a short stature and slender appearance, with young features contrasted by a sharp analytical gaze and a smooth elegant manner of speech.
His hair is a dark black color which almost looks blue, with his eyes being a piercing light blue which makes his gaze surprisingly intense when locked onto someone or something.
His normal attire consists of a long cerulean coat, and hat with a similar color scheme and a pair of plaid pants, underneath this jacket is a light blue dress shirt, a yellow tie and a pair of dark blue suspenders, giving him the look of an old school detective.

In costume as Tether, he wears a black Tinkertech bodysuit which makes him appear at least two feet taller and broader shouldered, over this black bodysuit he wears a pair of white calf-high tactical boots attached to his costume by black leather straps, a white chestplate, a white tactical belt, white forearm high gauntlets, also fastened by black cord, and a white scarf, cowl and cape combo, obscuring his features in shadows, his eyes obscured by a black tactical visor, the lower half of his face covered by the scarf and a black face-mask.

Personality: Adam Jerald is a young man with a strong sense of Morals and Justice, he's an analytical young man capable of quickly figuring out small quirks and using them to gain a better grasp of social situations, or simply gain the upper hand in a battle of wits.
Calm, professional, and a bit curt, he's constantly annoyed by his inability to be taken seriously because of his appearance, his somewhat feminine appearance and stature making him appear younger than he actually is, which happens to be a topic that causes him to grew heated and almost confrontational when brought up.
He has a strong sense of right and wrong, which is the reason he pursued a law degree and became a Private Investigator, and also the reason he became Tether, the SRCT while a good defensive and reactionary force does not do much in terms of investigation, forensic or otherwise, so Adam, or rather Tether, took it upon himself to open up his own Agency in order to assist AEGIS in such pursuits, the Independent and public funded Undersiders Detective Agency being the culmination and true beginning of his dreams.
As Tether, he displays himself as a laid back and somewhat snarky individual, taunting villains and even posing for crowd shots, in order to hide the analytic figure behind the jokester persona.
"It's scary, because they want you to be scared, fear is their weapon, they want you to fear them, take them seriously, so the public has to fear them. I taunt them to show the people that they don't have to be scared, I joke, make people laugh to take away their greatest weapon against Justice.
I kill Fear and replace it with Hope."
Adam because of his powers and his UB Event, has something of an obsession with saving people, making decisions where he has to choose between two scenarios where he can save a person enough to send him into a guilt-born depression, but he always stands back up to try again despite this.
Adam Jerald, Tether, Leader of the Undersiders Detective Agency, simply hopes to be a Hero worth the lives that've been lost to make him one.
Personality Quirks: Adam as stated before is very self-conscious about his height and feminine appearance, and speaks in a precise no-nonsense manner in order to make himself sound more mature and manly, like hard-boiled detectives from movies, although because of his stature and appearance, people often call him half-boiled.
Likewise, any comments about his height will immediately draw his ire.
Likes: Jazz Music, roof-hopping and Fantasy books.
Dislikes: Country music, being interrupted when reading, Villains.
Motivations: Adam became Tether because of his guilt over being unable to stop the murder of his Father, which was left unsolved, despite his testimony against the culprit, it was this event and his UB Event that lead him to becoming the first Superhuman Detective.
Fears: Adam is an ailurophobic because of many strange attacks dealt to him in his developing years by his aunts Cat, he also has a deep rooted fear of being less than his best, which often leads him to obsessing over his work. Finally, he is also neurotic, keeping everything in his office and personal space perfectly filed and clean.
Home Town: Originally lived in Newport CA, but has been relocated to the city of Chicago Illinois.
Character History: Adam Jarland was born Samuel Haynes, raised by a single Father named Timothy Haynes who was an Investigative Reporter who believed whole-heartedly that actions have consequences, and that people should be held accountable for their actions.
Unfortunately, his investigation lead him to asking questions about some dangerous people, Samuel was only Sixteen years old when three strange men barged into his home while he was in the basement getting a few supplies in order to help his Father fix the porch.
Dashing upstairs to investigate, he rounded the stairs and got a good look at the three men holding his Father down in order to execute him.
Three pairs of eyes turned towards him as he stared at his Father's corpse, before all of them burst into motion, him running up the stairs and the men pursuing, one trying to aim his pistol at the young man.
Miraculously, and mostly due to his track and field practice, he outpaced the men all the way until they came around the corner with a car, and he was forced to duck inside a building, and he was forced to hide on the roof.
Hiding in the nook of a broken fire escape, he hid himself as they Hitmen burst into the roof through the broken door, calling out to him, flipping over containers, sweeping over loose debris...It was the longest five minutes of his life.
Then he heard the ominous groan of rusted steel, and felt the supports of the broken stairway jolt threateningly, this alerted the Men, who came running over to check the disturbance...And they got a full view of Samuel Haynes falling to his death as the stairway collapsed from the side of the building, an arm reaching out as he leaps upwards, fingertips just barely grazing the pipe that would have saved his life.
He was going to die, his Father was dead, and now they've killed him and they're going to get away with it, all because he couldn't reach, because he couldn't see the signs of danger, all because he couldn't reach him in time!
Throbbing pain bursts behind Samuel's eyes and unseen by the Hitmens chuckling backs, was Samuel Haynes, hanging loosely from a tether connected to the pipe, inches from the ground...
Samuel Haynes fled, and after a brief and completely useless trial, where only one man was tried for murder, Sammy because Adam, and was placed into the witness protection program, and relocated to Chicago.
Living with his Foster family, his inability to act fresh in his mind, and powers newly awakened, he's spent years honing his ability, parahuman and simply human, attending a college early, he graduated with top marks at the age of twenty and has spent the past two years getting everything in order.
Tether has been active for Six years, Tether's detective agency, the Undersiders, has only been active for six months.
