Island Description

A whimsical stretch of land known the world over; with a propensity for warm, crisp and slightly cloudy days. It has a particularly unique trait: its 'floating lands'. Melliflu has the flabbergasting combination of both extremely potent magnetic fields and a network of mineral veins beneath its surface. The presence of these minerals within the levitating stone is what continues to force them into the air. These magnetic forces produce the hovering earth, but the rampant magnetism both repels and attracts metals of all kinds. Thus metallic weapons have fallen prey to floating away from or being ripped from a bearer's keeping. In a more ancient time the inhabitants interpreted this as a divine desire for serenity: some deity's wish to halt any conflict there. Even the rampancy of ill-willed Devil Fruit users is quelled here by the pervasive quantities of Kairouseki. In time, spirituality, religions and peace became widespread across the isle. While most of the floating areas are quite diminutive, there are several notably large samples. Atop the highest of these airborne ornaments resides a most ancient temple: placed on the highest point of the isle for all, near and far, to bear witness to the blessed land of Melliflu.  The peaceful culture which has arisen here because of all this has focused its efforts on more benign arts, becoming extensively well-known for its musicality and harmony. Instruments of all shapes, sizes and sounds are found here and fill the air with their honey-sweet tunes: producing an island-wide symphony. All of this is thought to be a tribute to and response to the naturally occurring melodies gifted to all by the myriad of native bird species.
